Contact Lens Care & Safety

Proper contact lens care is essential for keeping your eyes healthy, comfortable, and free from infection.

Before Handling Your Contact Lenses

● Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly before touching your lenses.

● Use a lint-free towel to dry your hands.

● Avoid lotions, oils, or heavily scented soaps before handling lenses.

Cleaning & Storing Your Lenses

● Use only the contact lens solution recommended by your eye doctor.

● Never use tap water, bottled water, saliva, or homemade solutions to clean or store lenses.

● Rub and rinse your lenses as directed, even if using a "no-rub" solution.

● Replace your contact lens case every 3 months.

● Empty your lens case each morning and allow it to air dry.

Wearing Your Contact Lenses

● Follow the replacement schedule prescribed by your doctor (daily, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.).

● Do not sleep in your contact lenses unless specifically approved by your doctor.

● Remove your lenses before swimming, showering, or using a hot tub.

● Apply makeup after inserting lenses and remove lenses before taking makeup off.

● Never share contact lenses with anyone.

When to Replace Your Contact Lenses

● Daily lenses: Replace every day.

● Bi-weekly lenses: Replace every 2 weeks.

● Monthly lenses: Replace every month.

● Replace lenses sooner if they become damaged, torn, or uncomfortable.

Warning Signs – Remove Your Lenses Immediately If You Experience:

● Redness

● Pain or discomfort

● Excessive tearing

● Light sensitivity

● Blurry vision

● Eye discharge

If symptoms persist after removing your lenses, contact Magnolia Place Eyecare immediately.

Annual Contact Lens Evaluations

Even if your vision seems unchanged, contact lens wearers should have an annual contact lens evaluation. This helps ensure:

● Your prescription remains accurate.

● Your lenses continue to fit properly.

● Your eyes remain healthy and free of complications.

Important Reminder

Contact lenses are medical devices. Proper care and regular eye examinations are essential to protect your vision and eye health.
